Advice about possibly moving out from parents hous

Hi,
I am 25 years old, 26 next month and have been offered the chance to rent a room in a largish house in a reasonable area.
At home I am well off, I get on well with my parents, only pay £100 a month board, which pays for food, bills and everything. Not bad I am sure you will agree.
The indication is that I would be able to rent a room from these friends at a rate of £150 a month, plus bills.
Now I want to know if this is feasible to do, first some background...
I am earning about £1,040 a month after tax + pension deductions, and am paying £270 a month for my car.
Apart from that I have no real expenses. I owe £300 for a headunit I bought on interest free credit, which has to be paid back in December, and I usually live out of my overdraft, which is about £800 at the end of the month, the day before I get paid.
I have no real reason to move out of home, but I am getting older now, and in some ways I feel it would be a good thing for me to move out and fend for myself at least for a while. I know the people who I would rent off well and feel that it would probably be a good laugh!
I feel like I've gotta stand on my own feet at sometime and this may be a good chance to do it. However, I need some advice from people as to whether this is "do-able" since I have honestly never looked into it.

Move out If your potential rent is really that low. Do it now.
The sooner you do it the sooner you'll know how you cope with bills etc (Or did you do uni already?).
Your parents are currently a safety net. E.g. if this renting thing go's tits up you can fall back on them. You wont be able to do that for ever.

Cool. Well I've just told my mate that I am pretty much in for this, and he is currently looking at places down the Quayside, in the city centre, that between 3 wont be that much. Not only that, but no more expense getting to work, since I'll be able to walk. 
We'll see what happens anyway.

I dont think I'd be moving just down the road, currently I live about 7 miles outside of Newcastle, I guess I'd be moving a lot closer to the action, somewhere within two or three miles, and actually in the city itself and not in the sticks where the services are much better.
I lived in Heaton for 2 years (almost). Just near polar933 actually.

1 bed flats in the quayside (in nice apartment blocks) seem to be about £650 a month as far as i can tell, let me know if you find a 3 bed for cheaper
