Fixing Garador garage doors? Any experts here?

OK, last week , whilst mrs mule and I were supping tea, we heard an almighty crash from the garage. I had a look inside and couldn't see anything wrong. However, when I tried to open the garage door the following day I was amazed to see the spring dangling down alongside the track!
Did a bit of surfing and discovered that you can get a replacement spring box for this door (a pre 1999 Carlton C) which I duly did. Last night I went to install the bugger and all was OK until taking up the slack on the left hand side and a bit of the nylon wheel split off and the cable - under extreme tension - is now sitting alongside it. Hmmmm.
Left that and started on the right hand side and blow me if the spring/pully assembly didn't become skewed and jammed inside the plastic cover, about 9 inches in from the end.
Doing some research, I can get some more new cables and a pulley assembly (with arm).
I am having difficulty finding a garage door repairer. Does anyone have any experience of replacing springs/cables in such a door - any tips or wrinkles?

There's no way I'd attempt something like this myself; it's not just a question of getting replacement parts, it's setting it up so they open and shut properly. When mine started to play up I used a company called Acorn Garage Doors in Baldock (01462 894910) who came and reset them for me. Don't know if they are local to you, but a quick glance in the Thomson Local says there's lots of these guys around.
