or are they really spending our money wisely?. Seriously, what chance does this country have of proclaiming any sense of 'greatness', when our leaders and their 'expert advisors' lie, cheat and steal from us on a daily basis. And what do we get in return?, just more of less...

There is no way on earth that any IT project can feasibly cost anything like £6bn let alone £31bn

pretty much, not forgetting the civil war broke out indirectly due to excessive tax demands by the then King .

The trick with this is the origanal spec will have been drawn up years ago, then every Tom Dick And Harry, will have had a committe meeting to get the bit to do what they want. They then go back rewrite the spec, which will now not do what the origanal breif was and so it goes. Finally they will get a lashed up job where no one is happy, the lawyers will be summoned and hey presto £31bn spent. They will then decide to scrap it and the whole gravey train process begins again, but this time lessons will have been learnt and the final bill will be budgeted for much less, but will still be now at least £60bn.

It does when you factor in armies of middle managers with shiney shoes in shiney chrome and glass offices, busy re-speccing the latest offerings from their mates at EDS, Oracle, Microshite, et al...

There comes a point when the penny drops and reality tells us that this bunch of no-hopers in government are effectively strangling us to a slow and expensive national death.

Jesus, look at the size of the BBC website - that costs nowhere near 30billion. I doubt it even comes close to 30million.
