this scenario (purely hypothetical) came up the other evening over a beer or two.

Our house is often a mess, kids toys everywhere, we get burgled during the night, the poor chap slips on a toy and does untold damage to his back/leg/arm/head.

I assume under the current legal system he would be able to sue me for negligence (or something similar)?

Should I put up a sign on the outsode of the house warning of kids toys - would that be adequate?

No, despite what the media or the Tories would have you believe.

The sad reflection on the state of the nation is the fact that folks are inclined to believe it really is like that.

You have a duty of care towards people entering your house, invited or not.

This is why if you put up barbed wire you have to put a sign informing people of the barbed wire.

I dont think its a black and white scenario thats for sure.
