I always thought that the UK had pulled a sneaky one over the french/eu by having this rebate.

And how funny it was that the french government ie chirac, get demanding it get cancelled.

UNTIL I just found out that Even with the rebate WE the UK pay a NET 2.5 times MORE tha the Net amount the French pay......

Without the rebate, it would be about 14 times NET more that the french pay..

CHEEKY, Cheeky MR Chirac.

Abd now we are going to be the largest NET contributor, again WITH the rebate in place.....

CHEEKY, cheeky bl***y EU.

Think how much petrol ctax could be cut with all that wasted money.

The EU was set up as a system whereby German industry paid for French agriculture-and it has kept many of its initial features.

1/2 the EU budget is squandered on the luncies of the CAP-and the bulk of the rest goes in grants for depressed regions.

By 1984 the UK was by far the biggest net contributor despite being on eof the poorest countries in the EU-then our saviour came-Maggie handbagged them into submission and secured the rebate.

The only time it would be worth giving up the rebate would be after a wholesale reform of the EU budget.

Other than that I believe it would be worth quiting the EU rather than give it up-
