Confirmation (if not already done) that 5th Gear is back at 2030 hours tonight and while not a great show is at least another half hour of motoring TV.

How disappointing.

Whilst I enjoyed Tiff and Plato going round the track in the boxster and z4 and bentleys bit on the scamra's - what was the point of the VBH but on stunts.

I could have watched ' Americas greatest stunts' for this!!!!

Liked the first half of the programme-good comparison of the Porche Boxster and BMW Z4

Scamera bits were Ok

Then disaster-Instead of Vicki helping to relieve some of the tension suffered by us poor sex starved married men -she was in a padded outfit

That was interesting. Although I know it was the *base* Boxster. Was it the *base* 2.5L Z4? or the 3.0L one...if it was the 3.0L a fairer comparison would have been with the Boxster S. Which with 280bhp would have got it on the straights as well as in the corners...

I thought the BMW showed very well though. Better than I thought it would. A worthy competitor it would seem.

it was the 3.0l. i just sold mine, and it was as good as they said, if not better >insert wistful sigh here<.

i think they were saying it was a fair comparisson cos they had roughly the same bhp figures, regardless of their rspective literages (caution: may have just invented a word). either way, of the two cars the smug-mobile was by far the more accomplished in my humble opinion. of course, the beemers indicators never worked

plus, at the time, only the old boxter was available and cos im a lanky streak of pee and they dont have telescoping steering adjustment, i couldnt drive it without looking like a lemon. which of course i NEVER looked in the roofless-hairdresser-mobile
