I didn't just nearly get driven into once today...but twice within 5 mins BY THE SAME PERSON!

1st time I'd just come off the M6 and was at the round-a-bout at the end of the slip road. I was in the right hand lane turning right and red van man was in the left lane not indicating so assumingly going straight on.
We both proceded at the same time and he swiftly cut me up to go right at the round-a-bout instead and didn't even indicate. Shocked me to say the least. I know the sign posting there is poo so I was annoyed but not steaming...yet.

Next round-a-bout and there is no straight on...simple simple right lane for right, left for left. He's in left lane, I'm in right...both procede at the same time and I thought that was the last to see of him until he nearly took me out! This time there was no excuse and I honked my horn (1st time I've done it in anger!) and not one little bit of appology.

If you cant pick a right lane...and not even stay in it when you do...WTF are you doing on the road?

Getting really fed up with people who cant follow the simple highway code.

Assume people are going to do stupid things and it's far less irritating when they do

I'm starting to get used to Blackburn drivers pulling out at me without looking. Surely isn't doing my car any good with all these emergency stops! grrrrrrr!

You're pleasantly surprised when they do some good driving (or simply not cr4p driving), and get to feel smug in a "I knew he/she was going to do that" kind of way, when they do something stupid.

I find I'm far less stressed on the roads.

I agree with the others, having said that though I think I might have been almost guilty of this trick before myself.

The situation goes a little something like this:-

1. See Fiesta (Ford/Vauxhall(save for VX220)/Fiat(save for Coupe), etc.) at round-about waiting to turn right. 99% driver will still be looking for first gear when the coast is clear to pull off.

2. Pull into empty lane alongside said Fiesta and gun it as soon as safe to do so.

By the time the Fiesta has reached the point to turn off for their intended exit I am usually thinking about shifting from 3rd to 4th 200 meters away.

Sometimes you get it wrong and you find that the Fiesta driver is actually Lois Schumacher and then you back off, let them go on their merry way thinking "It's nice to see a good looking young lady or two can still drive, I'll slip passed at the next safe place if they are going slower than I want to be going."

To do it twice in a row though is plain stupid.

Similar thing happened to me today - there was this thick bird in a bird in a blue Fiesta. She had her fog lights on, was indicating the wrong way (jumping from lane to lane). She very nearly hit my van on a couple of occasions.

TBH I think there should be two driving tests - a 'basic', after which you have to wear green 'P' plates for the rest of your driving existence, can only drive cars up to 1.5 litres, aren't allowed on motorways and the Police keep an eye on you when it's dark/wet/Tuesday etc, then for the rest of us, a licence that allows you to drive without a 'P' plate, on motorways etc, the works. This licence would involve not only lessons at night and on motorways, but some kind of demonstration on a skid pan that you know how to control a variety of cars (RWD, 4WD, FWD). Only once you've passed the first test and your instructor has personally reccommended to the DVLA that you take your advanced test should you be allowed to do it.

There are people out there who'd be out of their depth in a puddle with absolutely no notion of 'control' whatsoever. Accidents happen when the driver loses control of their car, and if you don't know what 'control' is, you're an accident waiting to happen.

On the second time I retrieve a pencil and take notes - later phoning the transport manager to give them a roasting (assuming it is a large company).

I once had the same guy cut me up twice in 10 seconds. Unfortunately I had emptied the car for a driving test and could only throw a crumpled up piece of paper at him - and a bit of screaming too.

Normally I am an but some behaviour just pushes me over the edge.

They're not fog lights...it's a penis size detection system...funny it didn't register.

As my instructor said to me many years ago:

"You've got to bear in mind, that every other driver is a ct!"

A piece of advice that has saved me on numerous occasions.

rude-boy - He was infront of me (after me having to slam on on the 1st round-a-bout). There were no other cars infront of him...it was sheer ignorance and incompitance.

Yep, as my instructor told me, everyone who has passed the test follows a different version of the highway code to the one you have to learn. And....

It's scary out there!

Easier said than done with regards to Blackburn drivers. I used to drive into Blackburn most days and just got used to the fact that that sort of driving was the norm around there.

It doesn't matter how stupid a move you anticipate that they might make, they will always astound you by doing something even worse! (Even saw one nutter going round the roundabout at the top of Bab Castle Way the wrong way just to overtake someone else!!! - what made this even worse was that this was at 5:30pm!)

Since moving away from the area, I can't believe how well people drive in comparison - must be something in the water!

Know what you mean about Bab castle way! Yeah...lets just stop in the middle of a dual carriage way to wave to a mate!

I find Preston New Road the worst, especially with drivers trying to join from side roads after dropping kids off at school. They will get out whether there is a space or not. Also had a taxi driver nearly reverse into me down there!

I've found lane discipline on most routes out of Manchester to be bloody awful - for some reason people will take the outside one regardless and go as slow as 30, forcing people to overtake on the inside. What makes it worse is the people who double park on the Burnage dual-carriageways - there's plenty of pavement space - take it!

I actually stopped using PNR due to similar incidents, the most memorable one was approaching the Moat House (Or whatever that hotel is called these days!) watching 2 cars overtaking a lorry at the same time - only problem was, one of the 2 cars was overtaking both the lorry and the other car at the same time and we were all rapidly running out of road space!

I was just very glad that the biker behind me who was just about to overtake me spotted them in time, otherwise it could have got very messy!

Driving standards amaze me,,I rarely drive during the day....but trying to do a right turn with the lights against me....I waited in line saw them go to a single amber then 5...seriously 5 cars jumped the red light. No roadworks or anything just a regular cross roads on a stretch of 40mph road. As stated just assume everyone else is a complete idiot, they usually are.
