If it's on ITV, did they cut out the E-Type chase like they did the last time they showed it?
the e-type "race" is in this version i am pleased to say.
won't disclose ending if readers here have not seen it.
although very 1970s and kitsch (obligatory naked girl on motorcycle vignette), i was surprised to be reminded how good a film it actually is; i hadn't seen it for a few years. the www.imdb.com assessment is pretty accurate:

no wonder i am the sad petrol head i am, this being the 1st film i ever saw, lol.
a quintessential road-movie with a twist. i love the isolation he conveys - that feeling of being on a "mission" when driving alone, heading somewhere but unsure why. bit like the scene in the graduate, when hoffmann goes after the girl in his alfa. total concentration in both examples giving a sense of escape from the mundane and often shabby realities of life. trying to blast away from the bad bits of the past and get to a better future.
sorry, beginning to sound pompous!
anyone seen "electra glide in blue"? same era, also very good.
they seem unable to make such films nowadays; maybe considered politically incorrect?

anyway, enjoy it - even the soundtrack is good.

timbob.
It was the origonal 1971 film.
very cool, very 70's.
loved the way it was just a chase film that basicaly had no story just a long car chase. The film then just had little flashbacks that set out the drivers character for brief moments then back to the chase
I want a challenger!

The '97 remake is released on region 1 DVD on 8th March. No where near as good, but it does have a chase scene with a black Charger. And the line "it takes a Mopar to catch a Mopar"
.
Just preordered it from www.region1express.com for under £7, (Though looking at their details they list the cast/crew of the original).
