Do you believe in God/Satan?
Discussion
Serious question, do you believe in God & Heaven and ultimately Satan & Hell in any form? Do you believe in an afterlife of any description?
I am simply interested in the common belief of people here, not if you believe in xxx religion, nor if you are a practicing said religion or not - IMHO they all share common traits but thats not the discussion.
Personally I do not. I don't believe in an afterlife, I don't believe there is any almighty beings.

I believe that there must be some reason for us being here, and somewhere that we must go in some capacity, somehow.
I also believe that we are not supposed to know this stuff, or we would have found out by now.
Religion is merely a vehicle to which we cling to in our ignorance.
Personally speaking, of course.

As a chemist, I view the planet and it's fauna as mere resonant aggregations of matter, in the context of Darwin.
Religion should be banned, it's a load of dogmatic trouble.
Edit:-My spiritual side is well occupied with great stuff.

But I think you'll find God is a Physicist.....
One of the major problems facing humanity IMO is that mankind is still not confident enough to face up to its own independence, its own self determination.
Mankind, it seems , still clings to the idea that there is something higher than us who will sort out our mistakes when we lack the strength or courage to do the right thing in the first place.
Scarily, there are many millions of people who think the Devil is a real guy with little horns, a tail, and the ability to bring out the wickedness in everyone. Even scarier, such a person is currently in charge of the free world from the Whitehouse...
So, quick answer - No. There is not a God/ Devil figure as prescribed in human imagination.
But I still believe in the spiritual aspects of life. I think people do possess something extra, something more than our physical bodies. I guess I do believe in the idea of a spirit, or soul.

Do I believe in God? Complex answer for that, I believe that God was a mortal man from a fallen race, that was all but wiped out, i.e. Atlantis for want of a name, this god was in fact several people who advanced and guided the 'uncivilised' world from where we trace our ancestry. This would IMHO explain how the Egyptians, Mayans, Aztecs etc rose from obscurity at similar times in different parts of the world. Check out Blue Prints For Atlantis by Rand Flem-Ath or for a giggle Chariots of the Gods by Von Daniken, which is a little naive, but has the right idea.
All religions have gods that have extraordinary powers and abilities, they take the form of man, and inseminate the 'daughters of man'.
So, based on this, yes i do believe in God, the afterlife sounds a tad crowded for me, and Heaven and Hell? well there had better be a hell 'cos I'm on the Highway already.
This could be a good thread!!
