I started off feeling sorry for the seller getting the usual array of clueless questions. Then he went postal at some bloke asking if he could view the car after 7pm! Seems a fair enough question to me.

Seller sounds like he has issues to me. Manners cost nothing.

I've never ever felt the need to piss about with someone's ebay sale, but he deserves to have that sale screwed up completely. I quite fancy tracking his account and naffing up everything he tries to sell from now on.

I did get one seller have a go at me for suggesting that he maybe wait until he had more than 4 feedbacks before demanding that his buyers have more than 10! Why is ebay populated by such a large amount of angry people?

They could have at least gone to the trouble of touching up the rust around the head lights. And putting in some new floor mats. Minimal stuff, frankly, that would drastically improve its, um.. photogenic-ness. Instead of trying to disguise the crap-tastickness of the car by taking photos whilst jumping up and down in the rain.

Someone ask how much for that one next to it with no hood or head lights.

I remember THAT!! That was very funny!! What was the outcome of that guy selling the model of a Ferrari?
Perhaps we should let this guy alone, since he IS selling a real car. Besides, you lot might just need a tow, one of these nights, so it might be best to not make Steve angry!!

Dave

I (er, I mean 'he') awaited the demand for payment from the seller, but instead got an email from Ebay saying that they had suspended the seller's account and there was no obligation to proceed with the purchase.
Stupid twat didn't realise that at close of sale, the email address he'd used to sign up for Ebay was sent to the highest bidder...
Never heard any more about it. Not so long back thre was another similar scam (reported on here), my alias sent a 'question to seller' wanting to know why the car (I forget what it was) was the same one for sale on a US website, 9000 miles away from where he claimed it was. Before the q. was published, Ebay pulled the auction.

Totally agree with you from a sellers PoV, but as a buyer, I`d much rather see it "as is".

Yes, it is craptastic, but we are only talking about a few hundred quid for a car which could be a bit of fun.

Q: Can you tell me if the wipers are fully electric as some early models had internal generator to operate them. And are the alloys scuffed. What is the tyre wear like as I will be driving home to Inverness. Many Thanks....Mebalsa Ichy

Same here. I recon that he has done this in the past to one of those spoof question askers and now they are stalking him.

After reading that I nearly started asking him some questions myself.

" Lee, I am a 3D computer graphics modeller and have been asked by the Dolomite club locally to build an exact replica in solid primatives to aid in their design processes. I understand that the carpets are worn, however, in the interests of originality, would you include them in the auction if I were successful in my bidding? Also, I am a little concerned by the photographs. Obviously, an attempt at producing action shots by leaving the engine running, the amount of vibration the car suffers from is clearly evident by the fuzziness of the images. Truly awful. Will this problem be rectified before the winning bidder collects the vehicle. I would hope so. Thank you for your time and good luck with the auction. Patrick"

This one has thing "PH" ring to it!

Go on. Own up......

He's added a link to this thread on to the end of his advert. All a bit cloak and daggers. Is PetrolTed really our seller ? Is wedg1e headed to the sin bin ? Will Towman ever forgive the people who messed up the auction ? All will be revealed . . . well never probably.

No.

It was posted for amusement.
Which clown posted a PH link in the Q&A?

FWIW some of us don`t have the spare dosh to spend on expensive motors. c£500 for a dolly sprint would have done me nicely. However, I could not bid as my PH and Ebay names are similar.

it's a shame it reflects badly on PH - I have just had a quick skim read and I doubt if any of the abusive/sarcastic replies were from here TBH

Croly hap! I had no idea this had happened! Can I just state for the record that my alter ego took no part in either bidding or banter.

I learned to drive in a Dolomite (not a Sprint) and although a mate of mine has always raved about them (it seemed at one point that his mission in life was to score a Sprint engine for his TR7) I have never really liked the looks. I always fancied a Firenza with the 2.3L... and yet, ironically, now I could actually do something about it, I don't want one anymore. Isn't life odd like that...
