I reckon whoever wins this one will win the final, they are both throwing some military darts this year.

I reckon Barney has the edge in sheer consistancy, but surely the lakeside crowd will get Fitton up to that higher darting plateau (sp) he is capable of and beating the dutch robot.

Fitton - Hankey final for me please. 2 great entrances, one to madness and one involving rubber bats, that is what sport is all about.

Lets be honest with ourselves.

It doesn't matter.

None of these guys will really be world champion. Because Taylor is and he would stuff any of them.

It's meaningless.

I never really took an interest in darts until Les Wallace (Scots left hander) won the BDO a few years ago but I'd love to know once and for all what caused the BDO/PDC split and when did it happen?

FITTON V BARNEY... I thought this was going to be something interesting, like a new legal case that would oust scameras once and for all. Or even some mildly amusing comparison of the perenial Microsoft child's toy vs. some new robotic upstart.

But no. DARTS. FFS. How does something like that even qualify as a sport? Let alone one grown men would CHOOSE to discuss??

IIRC there was a big legal battle so better tread carefully....

I think the pros (led by Bristow) decided that the BDO were taking too much money and the players weren't getting a fair share. (A husband and wife controlled the sport Ecclestone style?). Some of the players broke away and formed the PDC, did a deal with SKY and all earned much more, lived happily ever after etc...

(IIRC)
