Venice Simplon Orient Express
Discussion
Mrs K and I are celebrating a major wedding anniversary this year
so need a memorable trip to mark the occasion. Anyone been on the Orient Express to Venice? If so, a good, bad or indifferent experience? Where and for how long did you stay in Venice? Did you fly back or take the train back?

We were going to do that this year - but decided that the money could be put to better use.
We did however do a one day trip on the VSOE a couple of years ago and on the basis of that I'd definately go. The service was perfect, even down to the cut of the waiters strides. The carriages were perfect - spotless, the food was excellent, everything about it was lovely. The little details really make it, like the silver cutlery gently jingling as the train goes over the points...
The only negative was that the concours Pullman carriages were hauled by a filthy old diesel engine a - steam engine would have been the icing on the cake.
