After the excess of Christmas we set off for a week in France, I had picked a Chateux at random off the internet and whilst all the blurb looked good I was a little nervous as to what we would find.

We bundled two excited little "princesses" into the car at 5am and by 3pm we were stood outside the most magnificent castle which was to be our home for a week.

Our hosts Marie-Andre and Jean-Marie treated us like family nothing was too much trouble, the rooms were spacious and lavishly furnished. The food, some of the finest I have ever tasted.

We were treated to a tour of the castle and my eldest daughter was allowed to raise the castles flag.

The other guests were delightful, we were fortunate to be joined by a lovely american couple who just happened to be the president and vice president of the corvette car club in Florida.

On New Years Eve Jean-Marie opened his finest wines, which he had been saving for many years inorder to share with some special people, we truely felt very special indeed.

We left on Sunday with to very happy little girls, we were sad to leave but felt incredibly priviledged, many New Years have come and gone and many more will pass, but the memory of this one and the joy it brought will live on.

Nice one Wedge - well done! Which Chateau was it, if you don't mind me asking, we're thinking of taking the family to France later this year?

It's located minutes away from the A10 motorway and the Chatellerault TGV train station.

Just in the process of updating the website with some pictures of the Chateau etc. Meanwhile here's the link to their website

As Wedge Girl said, an absolutely fantastic place.
