A happy, positive New Year to you
Discussion
As we all get ready to throw ourselves back into the fray tomorrow as many get back to jobs and lives, I wanted to think about what I am going to concentrate on in 2005.
I can moan and whinge like the best of you, but this year I am going to concentrate on being bloody happy about how lucky I am.
Like many people, I often live my life with a low level background noise of dissatisfaction. Too often the things that piss me off crowd my thinking.
This year, and for many more I hope, I will simply be thankful to fate, chance, luck, or whatever you want to call it.
Thankful for the prosperity that the accident of my birth has given me.
Thankful for the lottery I won in being born in the wealthy west rather than Africa perhaps, or maybe to be born into the disaster-torn parts of Asia.
Thankful that I was born into a society that allows me to do what I want, when I want, and to have the power to choose my own future.
I am sure that next week and beyond many of us will get on with our selfish but blessed lives, myself included. I will try my best to and resolve to appreciate the life I have.
Sorry for the serious tone - but after the news events of the past few weeks, I find myself wanting to be close to what really matters in 2005.
Lets make this year a good one.
A happy, healthy and prosperous new year to you all.
