I just watched this, and after all these years and I only just noticed that they are knitted. Must pay more attention to these things!

...and all of the clanger episodes were scripted
with dialogue, and then "spoken" on a penny whistle.

The BBC wanted to check the scripts....and the opening
episode had Major Clanger whistling "Oh damn, the bloody
thing's broken again" when the gate to Clangerton
wouldn't work. The BBC sent it back, demanding it
be changed to remove the offensive language.

I would, but recently the metal foil I wrap around
my head to stop the aliens stealing my thoughts
