10 years ago I would have drank 2 or 3 times as much as I did last night, and I would have sprang out of bed and ate a big bacon breakfast and have at the day.

Today, however, I have no frickin energy, and just feel blah.

Isn't aging wonderful?

Happy New Years everyone.

Enjoy it while you can Lois.

Evidently, according to Mad Kasia, I didn't drink all that little last night after all.

Amazing what you can forget on New Years day.

I never used to get hangovers, and would completely recover by dinnertime, the following day.

Alas, no longer.

A pint of water 45 mins before bed and another upon waking (if you can force yourself to get out of bed)knocks hours off hangover time.

I have no ill-feeling intentions with this, but being a foreigner I find it incredibly curious as to how the average Brit's idea of a good night out is to get completely plastered only to suffer immensely the next day.

This is almost exclusively the abode of the Brits - where I come from (and in most other developed parts of the world from what I gather) folks include drinks to lighten proceedings, but we never ever get drunk and debauchery in itself is not an attraction.

I find I personally have a lot more fun when I'm completely sober, and see no attraction in binge drinking. But evidently, I'm in a minority here.

We moderated our intake with a delicious five course meal last night. I, personally, stayed away from the highland malts last night as well because the combination of good scotch whisky and good champagne usually leaves me with a terrible hangover the next day. So it was vodka and champagne and I feel great today even after only 4 hours sleep...

...I think the key is the food intake if you plan on imbibing.

ErnestM

PS: We went through about 8 ounces of beluga last night and actually had some for breakfast this morning too (with smoked salmon) maybe that's a hangover cure

My Main injuries seem to be a stiff back, neck and legs from jumping around frantically to heavy rock music for two hours.

There was a severe shortage of fit, SINGLE women over the age of 16..

which was a shame.
