O.K. a call to all you Pistonheaders who have come up trumps previously.Your mission,if you choose to accept,is to recommend a location for my 40th birthday which is rapidly approaching this month.I want to do a 2 night weekend, preferably no further than approx 100 miles from Essex. The place has to be very child friendly (ours are 2 and 3) and there will be plenty of other children between 6 months and 6 years.Want good food, decent quality accomodation, a bit of pampering for the women, and some typically blokey things for the men.
Thanks in advance and a very happy new year to you all.

I was going to suggest the School Dinners Club in London....but that's probably not going to suit the family...

Centre Parcs are good for kids (I've got 4 who enjoy it), plus you can go for a weekend.

As an aside, if you fancy a good meal then take yourselves down to Belsit, an Italian restaurant on the main road (High Road) through Woodford Green.

Get there early to avoid a long queue, you can't book in advance and have to pay cash for the meal.

There are very family friendly and their steak is simply sublime.

Go down to the Kimmeridge ledges near Swanage and dig some ammonites up. Enjoy the scenery and go and stay in a quaint little village, get wasted in the pub and go to bed. I reckon a good beach comb is the way to go. Kimmeridge has some interesting stuff to see apart from that. If I had to go somewhere in the UK, it would by K-Bay. Good surf also. To the right of the beach is something called "Washing ledge" which is a really hard bit of smooth rock like a table. Sounds brilliant!
