Saw St Etienne rockin' it at the Concorde2 Brighton last night.

Please, someone tell me - who did the original version of Who Do You Think You Are?

I've been trying to think who it was for weeks. If you lot don't know the answer there's no hope.

Yay, thanks. I'm surprised - knew it was originally by someone else but wouldn't have thought it was them.

Cheers, Happy New Year.

Question?

I've got a steering wheel down the front of my trousers for that!

Would have been disappointing if no-one had picked up on that.

The version I heard was at a Christmas do a few years ago when they got a comedian in.

Comedian: I went to the doctor the other day; I said, "doctor, I've got a steering wheel *somewhere that would be uncomfortable* - it's driving me nuts".

Might have been M People.

Unless they covered Purples version.

Wot he said.

No no no.

Who do WE think WE are...

M People included the line in "Moving on up".

Spice Girls would appear to be the answer...

You're right, young man. I've just been to the LP store (under the stairs), and it is "who do we think we are", and it's the name of the album, only.

Track listing; Woman from Tokyo,Mary Long, Super Trouper (no, not the Abba one), Smooth Dancer. Side two, Rat Bat Blue, Place in Line, Our Lady.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! OK, OK, I've got the answer. I had looked for it before, but all the links were for the St Etienne version. I've had another go and refined my searching technique a bit, and hey presto -

Candlewick Green!

They were Opportunity Knocks winners and the record charted in 1974.

I was amazed when you guys said Deep Purple, because I had thought it was someone cheesy - just couldn't think who for the life of me.

Thanks for all the answers. As I said, I'd been racking my brain and in the end I thought I'll chuck it in here. Now I'm embarrased 'cos I look a bit of a time-waster.
