Red Dwarf the movie!

I've heard it rumoured. I've heard it mentioned. I've seen the rumours dashed by Doug Naylor and finally, it's got a filming date!
how bloomin marvellous!

Doomed to failure IMHO, Series 7/8 were not worth watching, all the subtle humour was gone.....
sorry to see it hanging on so long.
k1p.
A simple formula of all blokes, crap sets and dodgy camera work was all part of the joke. Eliminating these things just killed it.
Well that and 3 series-worth of the same lines...
I'm afraid I've got to agree. And Chris Barrie deciding to jump ship thus relegating Rimmer to a cameo role, and then coming back as a completely different Rimmer later on didn't help either, nor did the concept of briging the entire crew of the Dwarf back.

As a died-in-the-wool sci-fi avoider, Red Dwarf was the only thing from this genre that I liked. I have to agree that by the end it was fairly awful though.
Things like the 'luck serum' were superb and it was the outright obsurdity that made it so good. Later series tended to rely on situations which fitted in with the 'space' thing, rather than just being good jokes in their own right.
Chloe Annett was a pointless addition.
