how to get an upgrade ba

right am going to aussie in feb on ba - is there anyway anyone knows of getting a free upgrade rather than just "wear a suit"?? anyone here a friendly ba pilot?!?

Used to travel LHR to JFK quite often with BA, enrolled in Exec Club (shows willing) and checked in nice and early. Being quite tall (6'3") I used to say that I got stiff legs when flying and was there any seat available that offered more leg room. Only flew standard economy once, mostly upgraded to World Traveller Plus and on occasions Club World. I dressed smart casual and was nice and polite with check in staff.

have literally just applied for exec club! + am tall so theres hope!
