Anyone got any thoughts on the best mp3 jukebox (20-30gb)
for about £180? Amazon has the Creative Zen 30gb for £170, which seems to get rave reviews and I must admit I'm tempted! Got a bonus coming in January, so I thought I'd treat myself. Ipods seem a bit pricey and some of the other makes (Archos) have very mixed reviews.

Assuming that having a non USB 2.0 PC isn't an issue when transferring songs (other that time wise)? Suppose 2500 mp3s will take a while to drag and drop!

iPods might be pricey but they are gorgeous.

Other models may have longer battery life / more features but if you use an iPod you'll see why the extra money is well spent.

I used to work for Apple and my iPod (a mk1 5Gb) was a Christmas present from them back in 2001. I reckon it has covered at least 150000 miles with me and is still going strong.

I use an 3G iPod and find it to be a little flakey, especially as after a year the hold button died and the pad seemed to lose it's sensitiveiness (sp?). I've never had it skip, nor refuse to play anything and I've been very careful with it (i.e. it has one very small scratch which was gained early one). The battery life became shocking and I had it "repaired" by a D&G specailist, suffice to say it aint repaired I'd be inclinded not to buy another if the truth be told!

The Zen was rumoured to be a swine to use with the controls trying to imitate the iPod while been different enough to avoid a lawsuit...

The Archos was better, but at the time it weighed much more than the iPod and was significatly bigger (altough appearing more ruggered).

i`ve bought 4 mp3 players in the last 2 months and returned the first three cos they were either too fragile or a bitch to use.(pb 1g and phillips 20g)settled in the end for a thompson lyra 20gb and its perfect for me.it feels well made and is an absolute doddle to use.cost £180 from comet and i wouldn`t swap for anything else(which is rare for me as i always buy things and regret it after!)

Iriver h320 is fab. Just got one for christmas and it's much nicer than the Ipod. Colour screen and multi codec so you can put MP3 and WMA (among others) files onto it.
