Does anyone out there know if there is a device taht you can attach to a PC to enable it to control a radio controlled car?

Its a project that me and my dad want to have a go at, but we need to know if we need to build / program the controller interface or if there is a commercial one out there...

To all those in the radio control know - come on down

I know that you can plug a controller into the PC and use it to control a vehicle on your screen. I have seen someone learning to fly a Radio controlled helicopter that way.

I have never heard of it working the other way though.

You can get a radio controlled car that the controller is a bluetooth mobile phone. So using bluetooth on your PC there should be a way.

Ive seen somewhere a guy build an interface for his parallel port and use a VBasic program to control it and with this he could control items in his room from the computer.

Ah here is the interface www.aaroncake.net/circuits/interfac.htm not sure if its a similar sort of thing to what you want

Yes it is possible. We did something similar for a school project back in 1988 using Acorn machines, a series of transistors switching the voltage out of the parallel port and a hacked up remote control. The class budget went about £2000 over that year
