Computer Game characters - know of any?

on xmas eve i wandered around my local game shop for fun, before walking home.

i do it occasionly to see 'whats hangin'.

an then thought - i wonder what are the most popular game characters about?

for me, all i know of are 'lara croft' an 'duke nukem' + some oddly named 'final fantasy' people.

so what people do you recall, as i havent a game for over a year !

oh yes, i just recall zelda - tho i havent played it
