THE YULE LOG IS GONE!!!!

A local San Francisco TV station used to put up a tape of a fireplace for Christmas, an off-beat tradition in the Bay Area.

24 hours straight.

Anyway, several years ago, the owner sold the station and the new owners didn't want to carry on with it.

I switched over to see it tonight, and it was gone!!!

For folks that did not have a real fire, it was really cool to watch, carols real low in the background, and about every 3 hours a hand would come on and put another log on the pile.

Another tradition, gone.

You should have taped last years, burnt it to DVD, and sold 'em for $10 each this year

Reminds me of the time just before Classic FM launched.
They would broadcast birdsong as a test. Really nice it was too.

So I got some birdsong files from the Internet looped them and put about hours worth on a CD. We play it around the house during the day and very soothing it is too.
