Well, I suppose its that time of year. But as usual in this day and age, any excuse to get a bit of publicity is used and low and behold, we get some stupid moron going on about Dan Browns Da Vinci Code....

Maybe we should find a Jehovah's Witness centre (one in North London I think), go and stand on their doorstep questioning them about their religious beliefs and refusing to leave?

What actually is the issue here? - the article states that the bishop thinks the book isn't true - no surpise there then - so why do you castigate him ? - have you actually read the article you posted as a link ??!!

Having religious beliefs doesn't make someone a "moron" - being intolerant of others beliefs perhaps does.

(BTW - I hold no religious beliefs myself)

I think the point is that if he says that it is all wrong and bad history then people tend to think that the book was meant to be acurate in the first place, which it wasn't.

I think he was referring to The Code.

The point of this thread seems a bit muddled.

But I can tell you I've heard people banging on about how much of the "Da Vinci Code" is fact and how much is fiction...and they really do seem to think that more of it "fact" than is true.

ITS FICTION! Based in enough real locations and historical "facts" or "events" to lend it credence.

Personally I found it a bit dull - but OK. Passed the time. The wife loved it.

But it was a well-enough written pot-boiler for me to have a go at one of his other thrillers.

Some of the facts are correct tho and Channel Four are doing a program tomorrow night on how the bible was created. Hopefully it should shed light on the "editing" done and how many "gospels" are true and which were left out.
