I posted an important letter a couple of days ago and asked to have it sent next day delivery and signed for and I was told it would be 97p.

So I asked how much for tracking it too and the record of who signs for it and was told £4.70 odd, so that's what I did.

I had a look on the website this morning and it was delivered but if I want to find out who signed for it I have to pay and extra £2.25.

So what really is the difference between the 97p and the £4.70 odd?

So, £7 for a letter ...what a bargain!

The difference is the 97p mail goes in the bag with the rest of the "normal" mail. the "special" goes in its own pouch and is processed seperatly.

Wasnt aware that you had to pay to see who signed for it... thats a bit Harsh!

I think you are mistaken.

According to the Royal Mail website,

For Recorded Signed-For, a copy of the signature sheet is £2.20 (see here)
For Special Delivery, it is included in the price.

Do you remember when "next day delivery" was 1st class post and cost 20-30p?
