What else can you think of that was once a household/workplace item?

I used to be a secretary and I once got a call from an agency asking me to do a temp job for a company using a MANUAL typewriter.

This was in 1996...

I used to sit opposite a comptometer operator. This was a monster machine with a zillion keys used for....adding up!

I did a banjo recording of "Tiger Rag" on a wax cylinder some years ago. I only ever listened to it twice, and now it's probably melted in a warm cupboard somewhere. Now THERE'S a good reason for introducing solid state technology.

Just remembered the "Teletyper" that used to be in the background on Grandstand for the football results

"Clak, clak, clacker,clak, clikkety"

Also cassette tapes - remember them!

You're right, I don't.

I meant more the cassette tape drives you used to get on home computers.
