Driver burns to death in car at traffic light
Posted Mon, 20 Dec 2004
A 41-year-old woman died when a fire engulfed her car at a traffic light in Centurion on Monday, police said.
Eldoraigne resident Eugene Havenga was in her Toyota Tazz at the intersection of Saxby Avenue and Frederik Street when fellow motorists notices her car was on fire.
"A fire extinguisher from a nearby filling station was used to extinguish the flames but she was already dead," said police Captain Piletji Sebola.
He said Havenga, who sustained burn wounds to her face, head, chest and arms, was declared dead on the scene shortly after noon.
Sebola said preliminary investigations revealed that the fire might have been caused by fuel found in the car.
"Three fuel containers of two litres each and a cigarette lighter were found inside the car," he said.
He said an inquest docket had been opened.

SOMEONE ELSE WHO KNOWS THIS EXPRESSION!
I've been waiting years...
That's ancient, we were using that expression in the 60's
Back on topic, I don't think this is anything to do with getting into the Darwin book of stupidity, just a plain old suicide
