How about the cover of the Rage Against The Machine album? It had a picture of a monk on the front who burnt himself to death in protest against the way their prime minister practiced against the buddhist religion.

Blind Faith by Blind Faith. Pretty cotroversial when it was released back I think in the seventies. Depicts a very young bare chested red head holding a plane. She looks no more than early teens. Dont think it would get past censors these days, and quite rightly. Something quite disturbing about it.

I always thought the cover from Chumbawumba's Anarchy was a bit grim.

Picture of a baby being born but only the head showing (so far in that moment of childbirth) and more than was strictly needed of the mother.
