Heaven and Earth - Published by Phaidon. A huge book of images that cannot be seen with the naked eye. Starts with the small stuff and ends up 1,000 million light years away. It's amazing.

Sounds excellent. My friend Peter Cadogan did the one before that ('From Quark to Quasar') and I think the original was called 'Powers of Ten'. All great reads.

It's not to read as such. It's all images with a quick explanation of what they are. It is truly astonishing. Everyone should see it.

If you want to see something really amazing try this:

www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000060MWT/qid%3D1103399927/026-8939064-2011645

It is an IMAX DVD Called "Cosmic Voyage" Narrated by Morgan Freeman. It does exactly what the book does, and the 1970's film "The Power of 10", but with stunning effects.

The finale, a one shot zoom from the edge of the known universe to the sub-atomic domain is simply brilliant.

I can't recommend it highly enough.

Sounds cool Alex. Have you seen Baraka? A DVD that is also brilliant. No speech, just cool scenes.

Would be good on mushrooms

Not seen it. I presume you mean Garlic Mushrooms, or a nice Mushroom Stroganoff?

Agreed, that's the same format as the earlier two. Perfect Christmas gifts, but only 'your' recent one will be in print now.
