So. At the weekend I got the filth off my car with the pressure washer. Which duly packed up during the operation.

This is the *second* washer I've had pack up in the last few years. The first did two years - this one has done three.

Not to name and shame but the make was something like 'Aldi'.

I bought the second 'Aldi' because the lances and brushes I bought would fit it.

Now after the second one has packed up I've had enough.

What Pressure Washer would PHers recommend?

karcher are very good, but you can't let them get frost near them or the seals stick and the washer has to be stripped down to get them replaced.

otherwise, karcher is the one

karcher no doubt - buy the cheapest one you can get if using it on the car - higher pressure isn't a good thing for car paintwork.

You can get karcher washers with two booms, used to remove hard wax off cars thats put on at the final checkpoint for transit.

They are very very very high pressure and to be used very carefully.

As one of my valeters found out when he did his rather rusty mini. The wings fell off...

It was like a scene out of an Ealing Comedy.

For the cost of a Karcher why not take it to the local valeter. £5 for a car wash x every other week = £130 a year and no storage nonsense

Sounds like a Karcher it is then, chaps.

Ta muchly. Out over the Crimbo Hols to get one, then.

So. Where do you chaps STORE your little machines to stop the frost getting at them?

All I've been doing is making sure they're emptied out properly then sticking them in the garage.

Perhaps this could explain why two have given up the ghost in five years?

In the garage here, Don. But my garage is integral so probably a bit warmer than a detached one?

Very likely - mine is a good way from the house and is totally unheated.

I don't reckon Mrs Don would be too happy if I tried keeping it in the hall....

Probably the same reaction as Mrs Miniman had to my "keep a stripped down Holley carb on the dining room table" plan...

You need to lay down the law - my front room currently has an x1/9 gearbox, front grille and front spoiler, battery, spare carb and switchgear in it. In the spare room youll find a bonnet, doors and complete interior, and a carb from a lancia beta hpe and in the back garden theres a tailgate, bumpers and gearbox from the same. If you open the shed carefully enough you wont get taken out by the alloys from the car

I wonder why I live alone and am single

Oh, forgot the front wings also in the spare room

But cheap, buy twice

Anyway yes go for Karcher I keep mine in a detached garage but I stand it next to and old oil filled rad that I leave set on its lowest setting just to fend off the frost from the pressure washer and the race bikes that don't have anti freeze in them.

Don, we sell SIP, Sealey and Draper washers, and the High End SIP machines are excellent

You're not wrong, mate. Now shoving a 'leccy radiator in the garage on low might be an idea. Ideall one with a thermostat that goes as low as 4C errrr

But its definitely a thought...
