Not got any clout with them, but been through a similar process with Apple and TNT for my G5.

I was even on hold for over 24 hours once. I called at 8am Tuesday morning, and when I left work at 7pm the Enya music was still playing, so I left the phone off the hook to see whether or not it would disconnect. It didn't and at 8am the following morning 'Sail Away' was there to greet me. Must have cost Apple a few pounds as it was a freephone number.

In the end it was nothing to do with TNT, but rather Apple creating a TNT shipment number before even packing the product and then forgetting to add certain orders to the shipment.

Thus, according to their records, the shipment went via TNT with my computer although it was actually still in assembly.

Also, don't believe a word about where it is supposed to be! I kept getting told it was in Amsterdam or Cork, after 3 months I finally got a proper TNT tracking number and it was shipped from Shanghai!

I worked for TNT for 7 years in their International division, I have quite a few friends still on the inside. How can I help?

He's not after an iPod is he? I trooped all over Bristol on Monday trying to find one, got the same answer everywhere, sold out, months long waiting lists, you're 'avin' a laugh 'in't ya? type responses from semi-chav sales staff.

Then, in a rare moment of clarity, I phoned the Apple centre where I was asked how many I wanted and in what colour. Hurrah!

I had a huge problem with Apple/TNT when they were supposed to be deliverying my iPod. Short version: they delivered it to the wrong company and it took some time for it to actually get here ...

... but the problem wasn't TNT's - it would seem that if the delivery is to a company, Apple remove the street address and put the company name there instead; i.e.

Name
Company Name
Area
Town
Country Postcode

I would argue that the problem IS with TNT in this case - they should be able to deliver using just the postcode plus company name and / or building number. I tried this years ago by sending a letter to myself at

35
BN6 8EY

It got there.

Miniman, TNT are not the Post Office!

The postcode is a Post Office delivery aid. Their systems are set up to use this on a National level. TNT couldn't possibly set up a global system whereby you put in a name house number and postcode

And don't forget that the label operator in Holland/China/Russia/Germany/Wherever is not necessarily familiar with UK address formats and may inadvertently leave out an important bit.

Good, it's not just me then. I had this problem last Christams when two new laptops went missing in transit. D*ll contract their deliveries to Bus1ness P*st, who in turn sub-contract to some other mob up in the Midlands. The net result is that when something goes missing, you end up dealing with three different call centres, all stuffed full of ignorant monkeys and all of whom have to cross check with each other, and the so called top of the food chain is in Bangalore or some such and hasn't got a clue what the ferk is going on.

They don't need to. They can just plug the post code into Multimap.

Of course they can! How silly of me! That would be really easy with on average 6000 parcels all landing in the depot inside 1 hour and needing sorting.

TNT have their own version of multimap called Travel manager which they use for 'problem' deliveries.

It's not like it's an off the shelf piece of software you can buy and plug into your systems, I mean I don't know of any other companies that can do it
