This really should come under the title of 'records that you are embarrassed to like'

sorry ,i really like this tune and it's quite emotional even tho the lyrics are not really christmassy the tune always send shivers up my spine (especially the end part)

EAST 17 (in Chav-tastic poptabadopolous woolworths pick'n'mix stylie festive groove)

STAY ANOTHER DAY - 10/12/1994
5 weeks at #1 - 15 weeks on chart

Baby if you got to go away
Don't think I could take the pain
Won't you stay another day

Oh don't leave me alone like this
Don't you say it's the final kiss
Won't you stay another day

Don't you know we've come too far now
Just to go and try to throw it all away
Thought I heard you say you love me
That your love was gonna be here to stay

I've only just begun to know you
All I can say, is won't you stay
Just one more day

Baby if you got to go away
Don't think I could take the pain
Won't you stay another day

Oh don't leave me alone like this
Don't you say it's the final kiss
Won't you stay another day

I touch your face while you are sleeping
And hold your hand, don't understand what's going on

Good times we had return to haunt me
Though it's for you, all that I do
Seems to be wrong

Baby if you got to go away
Don't think I could take the pain
Won't you stay another day

Oh don't leave me alone like this
Don't you say it's the final kiss
Won't you stay another day

Baby if you got to go away
Don't think I could take the pain
Won't you stay another day

Oh don't leave me alone like this
Don't you say it's the final kiss
Won't you stay another day

Baby if you got to go away
Don't think I could take the pain
Won't you stay another day

Oh don't leave me alone like this
Don't you say it's the final kiss
Won't you stay another day

wasn't it dedicated to Tony's (lead singer) brother who died???? or have i mis-heard somewhere down the line?

if that's true ,it will explain the lump in my throat every time i hear it?....(it would anyway.....a cracking tune/lyrics)

but it pre dates chavism and so must always be regarded as a townie tune. Chavs and Townies are two different thigns imho!

Saw video again today on TMF (freeview only = tightarse) for the first time in ages....'Tony lead singer whatshisface' is deffo shedding a tear ....just wondering if the PH 'massive , innit?' knows the story about my original query?

Once again ,great tune.....presented in white fluffy parka-vision......naturally

I thought the same, that it was written by Tony Mortimer in memory of his brother.

OTOH I saw Brian Harvey perform it at Butlins with the now re-formed E17 (minus Tony Mortimer) last year!!

quality song, shame about the "brain reducers" (arse about face baseball caps )

still if the sun ever shines, they may discover the "eye shading qualities" of said head gear worn "back to front"

dammit.....why does my contact lens play up every time i see this now

(having kids really has changed me.....i swear)

and i hated East 17 with a passion ....reserved for the likes of 'Hearsay' 'Dizzie Rascal' and Peter Andre.

Must be the only Christmas time hit that has not appeared on any of those 'All the Christmas Hits' on one album.
