Any one know how to look after celluloid film? Hubby has acquired a piece of the original film of some cult movie (just a snippet, about six frames). A mate suggested he frame in a light box, to display it properly, but we're a bit dubious. I thought it has to be kept in the cool and dark?

All advice appreciated

Hi Wendy!

I would imagine that the heat, over an extended period of time, would damage the film. I imagine it might warp and possibly crack (just a guess). Celluloid is pretty flammable too! I imagine that in a cool, dark and dust free environment you would ensure its longevity.

Any ideas of ways that it could be safely displayed? Or is it possible to make a copy for display and keep the original safe? I should have thought to ask you Emma, since it's your 'medium'

I'm sure they will know of someone who can aadvise you even if they don't know themselves.

I'm told you can get some cream you rub on your thighs for it.
