According to the 2001 census.
The God-botherers in all their many forms are still in number 1 spot though.

I'd say that "none", "agnostic" and "well, I don't really know" are all roughly equivalent. (Edit: as already postulated by D_Mike)
However, "atheist" is probably akin to standing outside in a thunderstorm, wearing copper armour, shouting "all the rain gods are bastards".
As for 37 million Christians, this encompasses the whole spectum of Christian beliefs from laying on hands / speaking in tongues / etc. right down to only attending church at Easter and Christmas, or even bell-ringing or arranging the church flowers but not actually attending the service, or indeed believing in God, the trinity or the resurrection.
In other words, some people consider themselves Christians even though they hold few of the beliefs or fulfil few of the accepted criteria for "Christianity".
For some, a wooly belief in some kind of God and attendance of church on an occasional basis seems to suffice for them.
And don't forget that "Christian" emcompasses Roman Catholicism too which, like Judaism, seems to be something you're born into. How many "lapsed Catholics" have you met? And how many more might put down "Christian" on the census simply because they were brought up that way rather than due to any firmly held belief?
Sorry, getting a bit deep there.
Cheers

i'm not surprised by the poll
I consider myself essentially a Christian : as I lead a Christian life)..primarily brought up in the Catholic doctrine...though a massive believer in beings from another dimension
To my mind...being a Christian doesn't stop me believing other things...is just a way of how you live your life

i'm surprised there are so many christians tbh. I think we have 2 on PH.
Make that 3, I class myself as one, and I do believe in God.

not actually
Christianity is very much about how you behave in society ...or how you're supposed to behave
Wheareas beliefs in the supernatural...alien beings etc are more a mind thing.
So people can say they're Christian...because they lead their life by Christian values....even though they might hold beliefs in the supernatural
