Following on from the earlier thread how about the movies that some people think are a bit naff but you're quite happy to stand up and be counted for being an appreciator!

I'll start with...

Weird Science
Ferris Bueller
Beat Street
Sweeney 2
Suburbia
Breaking Glass
Tron

Ferris Bueller is, in my opinion, the seminal John Hughes Teen Com edy.

It has a smarter script and better performances than virtually any com edy I can think of since.

Most of the Star Trek Movies. I love 'em.

I especially like StarTrek: The Motion Picture (ie the first one) as the breadth and scope of the story is quite epic and it is harder sci-fi than the others.

I thought they were asking for good movies you liked not crap movies you like! Misunderstood the question...

I like that one and usually I can't stand Star Trek. It's the special effects I like - a bit like 2001 - you can just stick it on and look at it, rather than watch it.

Back to the Future is without a doubt my favourite movie of all time, i'm not saying it's the best, just my favourite for pure entertainment! I love 2 and even 3 as well!

Love most of the Pixar movies too, especially Finding Nemo.

Also a film which was totally panned by critics upon release: Equilibrium! Check it out, stars Christian Bale (who's the new batman) as a law enforcer in a future where all emotion is illegal! It's got some fantastic fight scenes and definitly isn't the matrix rip-off several critics describe it as.

Not ashamed to say I like the Goonies as well, such a classic!

All in all my top 5 movies at the moment are:

1- Back to the Future
2- Alien
3- The Blues brothers
4- Kill Bill Vol 1
5- Lord of the rings (all three)

I LOVE Dog Soldiers. Sean Pertwee is a criminally under-used actor. Have you seen him in Blue Juice (which also features a young Catherine Zeta-Jones)?
