Just picked up voicemail on my landline number.
" Hi this is so-and-so from Radio 9. Our computer's selected your number at random and you've won £5000 in our prize draw". Then given a premium rate number to call and claim my prize. This was a very convincing call and the girl who did the recording sounded very very sincere.
Anyway I didn't call but 'googled' radio 9 and came up with this off another web forum.
I got conned by this... " congratulations, this is radio 9 and you have won £5000 in a competition....". I rang the number, and got a recorded message asking lots of questions about mobile phone - provider, type of phone, type of account etc, then you eventually get asked to submit your personal details by text message via your mobile phone to another telephone number...."
All in all the phone call was close to 10 minutes..... WE have no mobile covereage here, so I didn't call the mobile number and was left feeling conned and stupid......
Don't do it, 't'aint worth it....
What really hacks me off is that the people who'll fall for this will be the poor, the vulnerable, and the elderly - those who can least afford £15's worth of premium rate calls.
So - please tell your parents, your gran and anyone else you think might fall for it.
