Am I in a time warp or something or is recent history repeating itself?

I was just thinking the other week how the finicial markets are similar to the mid '80s, low and behold there is a couple of articles in the weekend papers confirming my suspicions, by stating exactly that.

The fashion is apparently going back to the 80s style (that can't be good) with my younger siblings confirming this and a look at a few new music videos not helping to distill such fears.

A look at the car industry reveals a scary 80s correlation. Every car now seems to be getting a turbocharger whacked on the engine, manufacturers have supercars coming out of their ears, weird unaesthetic design is becoming standardised.

People obviously have more money than sense, spending ridiculous amounts on stupid unnneccessary things i.e. ebay 'ghost' and cheese sandwich.

Even 80s music is being revived, both covers and original. I even log onto PH today and see a thread about the 1980s music revival tour or something!

Am I completely mad or is this really happening?

yep, it is actually happening. We've even got a madman in control of the US and a control freak presiding over Britain again...

1984 - UK£ equals almost one $

2004 - UK£ equals almost two $

Hardly a correlation there.

There are always similatities between eras - but many more differences.

Excellent news! That means my hair style of the last twenty years will be back in fashion again.

I find it extremely tiresme when my hairdresser keeps trying to give me a spikey "gareh Gates" when I would much rather look like an extra from Miami Vice.

Actually a little later, 1985 or 1986 it we almost $2 to the £1. I remember because my family moved to the states in 1984 and came back at the end of 1985. Big big mistake.
