A famous hit of yesteryear contained the lyrics

"Hope I die before I'm old"

Just watched a programme on the beeb about Jamaica.

Lucinda Lambton pointed out the grave of the late Duke of Albermarle who in the early 19th century died of 'debauchery' aged 35.

Top man, what a way to go!

How do you want to go?

please avoid references to the screaming passengers in grandad's car who feature in a very, very old joke

Not on the toilet.
Wouldn't mind going like the captain of the boat in a 007 film although not to end up naked in a wardrobe.
Not naked when found.
Like a number of conservative MPs and Lords.
In an amusing way whcih could be stupid but amazingly stupid.
Not painfully unless for some good reason e.g. soldier helping others. Although not willing to die by being spread over a field by something big and explosive. Preferably shot and/or tragic way.
Not to be publisised and then fogotten and not to have muppets feeling sorry for me and putting flowers everwhere.

Also here is a good game:

Yeah but still better than sitting there missing a leg thinking "god this hurts" when your leg comes back down from a great height and pokes you in the eye.

Still in good strong health, and after saying final goodbyes to my daughters, I'd prefer to go bareback astride a magnificent black steed with the Spirit of Death - a beautiful long haired women with me on the horse holding me tight - as I canter across a vast, glittering landscape towards a glorious warm sunset, or while driving a voluptuous, powerful sports car, that same glamorous siren as passenger, driving over an endless renegade road until it climbs up to the sky ................ and all the while in bed dreaming, as I slip away.

And the rest is silence.

Pissed again, LA.....?

Quietly, in my sleep, at a very old age (yet still with all my marbles), having lived a very full and interesting life, and without having suffered ill health, senile dementia or anything, leaving a wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

And I'd at my funeral I'd like it to be packed out by people who knew and loved me.

As an old man. Surrounded by friends and well-wishers. Slightly drunk. Feeling happy. Just after going to sleep.

Hmm, I think Don and I may have the better deal there. But each to their own.

I'd like to pop off just like my grandad: peacefully, in my sleep.

Not horrifically, bloody and shredded, screaming and flailing around, like all the passengers on his bus.
