http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=30018&item=3857118403&rd=1

Its the line at the bottom that says "You are not bidding for this item, just for the info on where to buy it". So you pay the £300 the auction is at, and then have to pay £684 for the camera too?!

21 bids too. Jeez, some people really don't read the small print!!

If he says what he is selling (twice) and people then bid more than it's worth, why is it a rip off?

Maybe my wording is incorrect, but its still a little misleading. I know the subtitle says 'info only' but the rest of it makes it sound as if he is selling a D70.

It also says at the bottom of the ad that if you e-mail him he'll tell you the information anyway!!

You will be AMAZED at how dense some people really can be!

I tried it once to drive some traffic to a site where I was running a competition to win an iPOD.

Even though I stated no less than FIVE times not to bid and just follow the link and that if you did use buy it now you would only be sent the link to the competition some muppet used the buy it now option to buy it for a pound.

They then sent me an email saying that they were paying the said pound by paypal anytime soon.

People just don't read the ads, are naive or they're kids that don't understand.

I'm tempted to contect the higher bidder here and ask them if they're really as dense as they seem.

It's surely making a mockery of what Ebay is (which isn't hard).

Free advertising.

You aren't bidding for any information at all because the company website is in the links in the advert.

Doubt it would stand anyway as the description is misleading:

I seem to remember reading in the rules somewhere that you're not allowed to sell a link to tell you where to buy something for a certain price (if that makes sense!?)

Just had a quick look through the rules but can't find it.....e-bay dont make it easy!!!

And the seller also says

But.... And it's a big BUT. Because it's getting close to Christmas email me or 'ask the seller a question' and I'll send the name of the company back to you with a festive message. Can I be fairer than that?

I emailed Ebay about the Muira scam somebody else can do this one

Or you could just contact www.digital-cameras.com direct and ask them why they feel it necessary to pull this kind of stunt on Ebay.

Quite right, If theyre that stupid that they read the description and then still bid they deserve whatever they get IMHO.

I understand why you say that, but remember this is against e-bay's rules. As such, people view the ad beleiving it to be in accordance with e-bays rules.
You are right, people should read even the minutest small print, but even so...it is easy to be deceived.

Assuming eBay take any action - I've given up reporting dubious auctions.
