I've bought a few decks of cards so I can play poker and blackjack with some of my mates. The only problem is they are all in order. Anybody got any ideas about the best way to shuffle cards to make sure they are random enough to ensure fair play?

Cheers

If it's not, and I had posted it, I think I would now claim it was a joke...

Umm it wasn't planned to be, but it looks like it may turn out that way.

Thing is, I know two of the guys who I will be playing with can stack a deck pretty well. One of them can take a clean deck and several shuffles later will be able to pick out various cards at will. Thats why I want to make sure it ends up a fair game.

Buy an automated shuffler...they aren't expensive (and if you get the right one are fascinating to watch)

In competion poker games they spread them out face down on the table stir them round for a bit and the shove them back together however they go naturally.

At least thats what it looks like on the TV!

I think any old shuffling for a few minutes will randomise the cards pretty effectively though.

If that is true , you can't, you will be taken to the cleaners.

How about this automatic card shuffler?

Or even cheaper at Amazon:

Good idea. I hadn't thought of that, but then I haven't had any coffee yet.
