This is an incredibly dull topic, but I'm trying to do some market research of small-medium transport aircraft. How do I go about doing this?

Is it simply a case of comparing pros and cons of current aircraft and trying to find a void that needs filling?

lots of things to consider but i think the main one would be what sort of things are small/medium transports used to cargo and how can you make the cargoing of said goods more economic. Just my two pences worth
