Means of defence kept in your car?

Have just been reading through the "defending your home" thread, wherein some PHers type about keeping weapons of various types handy around the home. I also do this - half a snooker cue with a whipped handle on the end.

But it started me thinking about weapons of defence kept in the car - I have nothing, partly to avoid provoking 'BiK' (Boys in Kepis) reactions. Have a couple of friends who have their habits - one with a wheelbrace in the passenger footwell, the other a club hammer in the boot.

Where do you peeps stand on this and what handy tool do you pack if any? I think that whatever it is, it needs to be in the car rather than in the boot. I imagine the ubiquitous Maglite will get a few mentions and maybe this is what I should buy....
