The opportunity has arisen for the V12’s to consider relocating.
The options are:

Avon and Somerset, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire, the East Midlands, Lancashire and Merseyside or remain in Hertfordshire.

Given these choices, where would you live and why?

I grew up in the East Midlands and now live in Herts.
I find the countryside of both regions is very similar...

...which is nice

I grew up in Oxfordshire, there's some lovely places there but it's fairly expensive now. Currently living in Herts which I like but the commute to work is getting tedious.

Out of those I'd consider Avon and Somerset or Oxfordshire depending on what is important to you.

Avon and Somerset has lovely country and access to some pretty decent facilities and culture in the city of Bristol - shame they've ferked up its road system, though. Castle Combe isn't that far away.

Oxfordshire has very "picture book" villages and towns and has English heartland appeal. Oxford is good to visit if you avoid taking the car. Not far away is Silverstone.

Yes, I live in Southport and its poo.

Merseyside is even poo-er and unless you goto the lakes, the place is overpopulated. Go South young man, to where the grass is greener and the Plods blue lights are bluer.

Thanks for that, I had penceld it in as possible because of the easy access to Cumbria and The West Coast of Scotland where I prefer to sail, so that s one of the list

It depends what area of Lancashire you're talking about. There are some lovely areas, particularly some of the smaller villages. As for quality of life, it will be cheaper to live there than anywhere else in terms of cost of property and cost of living which means your quality of life could be considerably better. I'd still go for Somerset though I think if I had the chance as I'd like to live close to the sea but not in Blackpool!

Take no notice of one malcontent. It's bloody great up here. You get more house for your money, beer's cheaper, the rural scenery is great and there are some great driving roads.

As another poster said

"Trough of Bowland, Lancashire

marvellous place (and great roads)

30 minutes to Manchester
30 minutes to Lakes
30 minutes to sea"

I live not far from there and can add to that list
30mins to the Yorkshire Dales
75mins to Gretna.

It's marvellous place despite the odd whingeing malcontent trying to drag the place down.
Maybe it's just that there aren't enough handbag shops for him to choose from

So its not that far from nice places to live then.

Most of the south NW is crap. Liverpool, manchester/wigan/bolton/blackburn, its all way to filed industrial, and what scenery there is is flat and mostly unintresting.

Sure you can go to the lakes, which is very nice, or yorkshire, wales or whereever.

But given the choice of where to pick to live I'd be somwehere else, rather than somewhere a short drive to a nice place.

OK - theres a few nice villages around, but overall the area isnt great.

Does that include Cheshire, with more millionaires than anywhere else in the country? I'm sure they're living in absolute squalor.
