Am I the only one to be greeted with an annoying advert when I logged on today, or is there something wrong with my PC (wouldn't be the first time).

Please tell me you haven't gone for the annoying "advert in the face" idea, Ted?

If you want the site to continue to grow then that's price to be paid I'm afraid.

It's an easy decision for me to make. Hardware ain't cheap.

I find it annoying. So much so, it puts me off buying the product. I do appreciate you've got a business to run though - life's not a charity I realise.

That's true of many types of advertising and it's a gamble that advertisers take.

"Had an accident that's not your fault...?" You don't ring Sky and tell them that the adverts they're running are tedious

no you mute them, change channel for the adverts or do something else.

Don't bother me in the slightest as I don't see them Most don't apply to me anyway

That's true: for me I have lots of accidents and their usually always my fault! As such, I'm worried about the other bloke seeing the advert!

Oh no! I love those ads...the original scripting, the clever humour, the pithy observation on scrounging blamers who lack the inclination to earn, but instead choose to file endless ridiculous claims for compensation...

..and they are all charitable organisations dedicated to righting wrongs and fighting for the underdog. Esther Rantzen says so...so they can't be scum sucking lawyers at all can they?

They're all a rip off anyway - because if you lose the case you have to pay the costs of the defendant. If you win the case your lawyer takes half the dosh! "Heads I win, tails you lose."

It's really annoying. I don't browse half the sites i used to because of it. why not get a donation from registered users? I'd pay, and im not on here half as much as some people!

In due course there will be ways of opting out. In the meantime the ease of getting a payment for hosting an ad (capped to one per person per day) outweighs the complexity of implementing a paid for membership system.

Er, I do actually (when drunk and bored). I also once rang ITN news to complain that the background gunfire in an Iraq report sounded dubbed on, and could they please use more realistic sounds in future

I can't say any of the ads on PH have ever bothered me - you see it once a day and it's hardly offensive...

What did they say to that?

The ad people are talking about actually works in Firefox. I've just seen it. Hit the 'close' button on it if it's not of interest.

Just shows how infrequently it's appearing.

Nuff said I think.
