It's been some years since I last sat and listened to the fat one and I had forgotten just how brilliant the songs were. When I was changing the CD's for the Tuscan yesterday, prior to stretching it's legs, I came across "Hits Out Of Hell" and slipped it in the multi player.

I now feel guilty for neglecting Meat for so long. From the opening chords of "Bat Out Of Hell" this is pure driving music. Jim Steinman is undoubtedly a genius.

I found myself singing along to "Read Em And Weep", Dead Ringer For Love" and "Midnight At The Lost And Found" as the Tus and I hurtled joyfully towards the horizon.

I even found myself enjoying the rock opera in a single song that is "Paradise By The Dashboard Light". And you could have took the words right out of my mouth as I could do little more than nod in agreement with the refrain from Meat that he was going to "Love Her For Both Of Us".

Legendary.

Always been one of my favourites!

Went to see him play at the NEC in Birmingham and it still ranks up there with the best gigs i've been to. He did a 90min set... then an encore of Bat Out of Hell... then a second encore of acoustic covers. He literally just asked someone in the crowd for a request then played it perfectly with his band.

Genius!

I've seen Meat 3 times, still not quite as good as a Bruce Springsteen show, (in my opinion) however he does kick arse.

4 times if you include white van man and me going for 40 mins until he collapsed and resheduled the show.

Bat out of Hell 2 is a cracking album, Objects in the Rear view mirror, Out of the Frying Pan, ooooh.

The new Album is also brilliant........

Hopefully "proper" early Whitesnake with Bernie Marsden, Mickly Moody, Jon Lord & Ian Paice and not the current perm-rock varient treading the boards please.

Jim Steinman and Mr Loaf as a combination are fantastic. Neither seem to work quite so well without the other.

I must have worn out three vinyl copies of BOOH when it came out - soundtrack to my youth

Still listen to it now & again and it is still MAGNIFICENT.

I'll admit, I kinda like both of them, although the better ones were the earlier ones. My favourite album of theirs is 'Come An' Get It'. Also has one of the best pictures on both the front and back cover I've ever seen.

I've always been a fan. One word of warning, don't buy the new BOOH Meatloaf and Sydney Philharmonic Orchestra (I think that's the right orchestra), I bought it the other day thinking that it would be great perhaps a bit like the Queen stage show with the orchestra but it is absolutely shite. I couldn't listen to more than the first thirty seconds of each track. Absolutely appalling.

Woman getting it on with a giant snake. Hmm...

No, I just like the idea of an angry snake in a glass apple on the front cover, and a shattered glass apple on the back. Simple, effective and very cool.
