I had to smile. I heard Michael Howard being interviewed saying “my job is to listen to the people of this country and introduce pragmatic policies to reflect this”.

The point being, a week ago I went onto the Conservative Central Office web-site where I emailed him, and I’ve yet to even receive an acknowledgement of my email, let alone a response. If this is an example of how the Tories propose to govern the country then they sure won’t get my vote!

I've written a number of times to my MP and always recieve a reply. He's a Tory.

I think you are being over-harsh - although I've had a different experience of them than you, of course.

My recommendations for voting are to understand where your prospective MP stands on a range of issues, understand where their party stands on a range of issues and then vote accordingly.

Voting because one answers letters promptly and one takes longer is a bit like voting for the best looking one. (Which I know some voters do I thought, however, on PH we were above such things.)

I'll be voting Tory.

But this is because I've assessed their politics, philosophies and standards and I've decided which party (and invidividual) will represent me the best. I can only hope enough people out there think like I do.

You'd think the 'leader' would at least set an example to those under him. I've written to the PM before and you always get a prompt 'acknowledgement', even if it is then delegated to the relevant department / person.

Indeed I do think a leader should set an example. Although this might be a case of their systems not being as efficient as the incumbent administration.

You know e-mails get lost sometimes. Send him one again with a delivery receipt and a read receipt. Then at least you'll know if you believe them to not bother answering queries or to have a problem with their e-mail server.

And you also know that the office of the PM makes replies without the PM's knowledge if they're routine. I'll bet the oppo have the same structure...

Don't beat around the bush, mate. Say what you really mean.

I can't argue with you on that count, though.

Except perhaps for our local MP who seems a good sort.

The fact is that before the election, the Tories will fall on their faces so hard, it will look like a big theatrical play. Cue, Blairs third scene (The one where he takes the bullet for his sins, to give us Brown)......

That's what's going to happen, mark my words. I'm still going to vote for the Conservatives, because, if I don't I will be a contributor to a 3rd term, which will kill the country off. As if thy really count the vote anyway, it's all a myth, one big conspiracy.

It wasn't like an email from Outlook, or some such, it was a communication page on their web-site. As such, I can't send one with a delivery receipt. Also, if, as you suggest, it might be an internal administration cock-up, then they certainly can't be trusted to organise our nuclear defences, amongst other things!

If we don't like the result of the election, then maybe like Ukraine, we can protest until they change the Govt or split the country in half? Sounds fun

There are a few countries in the world that have had a revolution, but I don't fancy living in any of them, apart from France possibly.

And France was indescribably shit to live in for decades after it too. NOT good things.
