Haven't heard the new version until today....wow...how inferior is it to the original?!

What it needs is some powerhouse voices...I mean....Dido and the Sugarbabes, I ask you. Very very poor.

I'll buy it for what it represents, but I'm very unlikely to ever play it.

Rapping...??

Only heard it twice, and that was when I was in the car so the loud exhaust may have been to blame... But am I imagining it, or does the entire song go very off-key when Dizzee Rascal does his bit?

Why not just donate the money direct to a worthy cause and save cluttering your house with shite?

You'd be better off helping in a homeless shelter for a few hours IMHO

don't you know the "cluttered with shite" look is the new "minimalist/contemporary".

edited to say: quoted the wrong post.

Well it is in our house anyway.

Rather than sending aid to a county who's government is engaging in genocide....

Didn't someone complain recently that the lyrics were racist? Sommat to do with Africans not celebrating Xmas etc.....

I'll just keep giving my cash to lifeboats and puppies then, cheers all the same.

You just can't help some people!

(Cack new version BTW)

I don't think much of it but then I didn't think much of the original either.

Only a halfwit would go around saying its racist.

It's crap, no real mega-stars, completely unnecessary rapping, but most of all it suffers from a lack of a specific African problem, so it has no focus.

TBH you'd probably help the Third World more if you bought something by U2...

Thanks for the suggestions, it won't do any harm, buying the single, except to my hearing if it gets played.

I don't think anyone has suggested that the song is racist or anything, more just appreciating the irony that a large portion of those it was about couldn't give a shit if it was Christmas anyway.

The new one is really bad though, the video is cringeworthy, it incorporates the classic 'its 4 in the morning and we've all just flowen in to do this at the last moment because sir bob said it was urgent so we have to improvise by sharing 1 mic between 4 and reading the lyrics off a sheet to suggest we haven't rehearst.' charity video look.

The crowning glory of that video for me though is either Joss Stones fake crocodile tear when watching the 'before LA2' video of a hungry child (they forced them to watch starving people to show them that outside of their coke'd up head there are people starving so don't look happy that your going to be on a Christmas number 1) or Rachel Stevens 'after LA2' face of joy when she sees the video of the boy playing football.

And I can imagine them sitting around and trying to work out what to do with the dizster - it why not just let him rap something somewhere. He doesn't add to the song so why bother putting him on it?

But it does raise a lot of money for good causes so lets not knock it

its not as good as the original but it will appeal to alot of the younger generaton the ones that never really heard the original, i think they could have chosen some better singers for the big parts

Why Does anyone actually give a shit about how good or bad the song/ video is.?

I dont care if timmy mallett was singing it.

Its a good cause.

And im my opinion far more important than bloody puppies.

As for homeless charities...what a waste.

Just a cheap way for the govt. to duck its responsibilities.

There is no excuse or any reason for anyone to be homeless in this country if they dont want to.
We have a safety net that can cope with anyone who wants to be helped

If they dont, and would rather live on the streets out of choice, then tough shit.
