It hurts if you get shot from close range. On your ear. And neck.

Ask me how I know.....

And don't forget Goggles/face masks, you don't want a paintball in the face, remember PJ in Byker Grove

One of my mates is actually part of a UK team I think, does quite well and has recently come something like 2nd in the UK championships. Anyway I digress.

It bloody hurts! I got shot in the head from close range and had a massive egg on my head for days. Plus it costs far too much! When we went it was free to hire the equipment due to Uni paying for that, but we had to buy any ammo we used - suffice to say that the 100 balls you bought for £5 were gone in a few seconds. Most people paid something like £30 on that day

Then again, buying before you go is probably cheaper.

Very few venues allow you to bring your own paintballs. I've been a few times and its generally cost me between 40 and 50 quid for the day.

Always been a good laugh although it was becoming annoying that the guns were so damn innaccurate that it was more a case of suicide runs and becoming good friends with the trigger!

Gatsos make excellent target practice - apparently!

Especially with permanent paint....

I shot somebody in the kidney area at almost point blank range when I last went paintballing - Crept right up behind them and then blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam!

They instantly lept up, clutching their lower back and howling in agony. I recommend it.

And good boots that support your ankle (I broke my foot - went into the forest wearing trainers).

Because some shot me from about a foot away in both of these places.

I'm not embarassed to say that it brought a tear to my eye.

Subsequent games of paintball had me abandon my gung-ho style and adopt a much more stealth-based tactic.

Good fun though.

I went a couple of years ago, rounded a corner to be confronted by "the enemy". Apparently there is a rule that you just say "BANG" from close range and thats them out.

I paniced and instantly fired. Unfortunatly, the gun wasnt completly level, so it went about a foot lower than his chest.

Made him cry.

Ooooh. paintballing is so cool. cooler than a bag of frogs in a freezer.

first time i went i caught an unlucky hit that caught me behind the ear, which was a bit bloody, but no harm done.

One year, our systems admin manager, who was a long serving TA member, had a sly word with the game organisers.

During the Capture The Shed game (I'm sure its got a fancy name), he was on our team and we were attacking.

Unknown to anyone before the fact, he only went and threw a smoke grenade in through the window and we stormed in and did a spot of gas-propelled redecorating.

Never laughed so much.

The 5 people defending the shed, understandably, didn't see the funny side.
