Leonardo: The Titan Of Cheesy Lines

Leonardo DiCaprio declaring "I'm the king of the world!" in Titanic has been chosen as the cheesiest line in movie history.

DiCaprio utters the words while standing with arms outstretched at the bow of the doomed ocean liner in a romantic moment with co-star Kate Winslet.

But it is the naffest line in film, according to a poll of 2,000 moviegoers.

Second was Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing, saying solemnly of his love Jennifer Grey: "Nobody puts Baby in the corner".

Andie MacDowell, in Four Weddings And A Funeral, came third for gazing at Hugh Grant during a torrential downpour and saying: "Is it still raining? I hadn't noticed."

Swayze makes another appearance at four in Ghost, although the cheesy line belongs to co-star Demi Moore. "I love you," Swayze says, to which Moore replies: "Ditto".

Top Gun came fifth for the moment Val Kilmer tells Tom Cruise: "You can be my wingman any time."

The survey was commissioned by Warburtons to mark the launch of its new Cheese Flavour Crumpets.

A Warburtons spokeswoman said: "We're a nation of cheese lovers but these results show our love of cheese goes beyond food."

Top 10 cheesiest lines in film:

1. Titanic - "I'm the king of the world!" (Leonardo DiCaprio)

2. Dirty Dancing - "Nobody puts Baby in the corner." (Patrick Swayze)

3. Four Weddings and a Funeral - "Is is still raining..." (Andie MacDowell)

4. Ghost - "I love you." "Ditto." (Demi Moore)

5. Top Gun - "You can be my wingman any time." (Val Kilmer)

6. Notting Hill - "I'm just a girl..." (Julia Roberts)

7. Independence Day - "Today we celebrate our Independence Day." (Bill Pullman)

8. Braveheart - "They may take our lives..." (Mel Gibson)

9. Jerry Maguire - "You had me at hello." (Renee Zellweger)

10. The Postman - "You're a godsend, a saviour." "No, I'm a postman." (Kevin Costner)

I agree. A great fun film, almost spoiled by the most buttock-clenching patriotism in movie history...

How about that crappy spiel that Gene Hackman trots out in either 'BlackHawk Down' or 'Behind Enemy Lines' (I think it's the latter) - some sh!te about 'using your training and doing whatever it takes'. I saw the trailer and laughed so much I couldn't bring myself to go and see the film.

I take it they decided to exclude Bond films for reasons of national pride, ie they'd fill the whole list from the Moore years alone.

As much as I love the film:

"Old Mac Donald had a farm, eeeh ay eeeh ay oh... And on that farm he shot some guys, badda boom badda bing bang boom."

That's pretty bad!

Personally any film where they mention the title of the film, in the film bugs me!

Not sure why, just does.
